Working Session Minutes
November 20, 2017 – 4:00 P.M.

Mayor Andrews called the working session to order at 4:00 p.m. Mayor Andrews stated the Council will have to go into an executive session immediately to discuss a legal matter.
Mayor Pro Tem Smith made a motion to enter into an Executive Session to discuss legal matters. Council Member Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously with favorable votes from Mayor Pro Tem Smith, Council Member Brown, and Council Member Davis.
The working session reconvened at 4:40 p.m.
Katie Moncus, President of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, gave a report on the 2017 Kaolin Festival and events. Mrs. Moncus stated the festival is now a two day event and she noted there has been a lot of positive growth including a movie, a Cornhole tournament, and music and entertainment. The committee has already started to meet to plan next year’s festival and the Chamber will be asking each contributing entity to sign a contract to outline their duties. Mrs. Moncus also discussed the economic impact of the festival to the community. The Mayor and Council Members further discussed the Kaolin festival.
Mayor Andrews stated that Police Chief Cuyler, City Administrator McCorkle, and Council Member Dennis all attended a seminar hosted by the Georgia Municipal Association on Community Policing. He will ask them give an update on this seminar at the next meeting.
Council Member Davis, who serves on the Downtown Development Authority, stated that he and other DDA members made a trip to Swainsboro last week to meet with their DDA. They were able to get a lot of good information. Council Member Brown stated that the City of Perry is a growing area and they are doing a lot of innovative things. Council Member Brown noted the Mayor of Perry has offered to come to Sandersville and share some of their ideas.
Mayor Andrews adjourned the Working Session at 5:00 p.m.
