Rezoning Application for 412 W. Floyd Street

Building Official Larson stated the application for rezoning at 412 W. Floyd Street that was tabled at the July 5, 2017 Council meeting will be on the regular agenda for the August 7, 2017 meeting.

Proposed Junk Vehicle Ordinance

Building Official Larson passed out a proposed revision to the junk vehicle ordinance which was modeled after Athens-Clark County’s ordinance. This proposed ordinance has been reviewed by the Judge, Solicitor, and City Attorney.

Building Official Larson discussed the proposed ordinance with the Council Members and they suggested a few changes including defining a “Permanent Structure”, changing the notification period from 14 days to 30 days, and taking out the valid registration requirement.

Other Business

Council Member Brown asked about an ordinance to require residents to remove their trash cans from the right-of-way after pickups. The Council Members then briefly discussed this.

City Clerk Brown asked is employees could have time off to watch the eclipse on Monday, August 21st. The consensus of the Council was to allow employees to work through their lunch breaks and leave at 2:00 p.m.

With no further business to be discussed, Mayor Andrews adjourned the Working Session at 4:40 p.m.
