7.Motion to award a bid to Xylem in the amount of $48,544.88 for a Solids Handling Pump. (Attachment D)

Mayor Andrews called the July 17, 2017 meeting of the Sandersville City Council to order at 5:00 p.m.
Mayor Andrews gave the invocation and Council Member Brown led the pledge to the American flag.
APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
Council Member Dennis made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 5, 2017 called and regular meeting of the City Council as presented. Council Member Brown seconded the motion passed unanimously. (Attachment A)
MOTION TO ADOPT RESOLUTION #2017-11: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL RECORDS
Council Member Brown made a motion to adopt Resolution #2017-11: A Resolution authorizing the destruction of certain municipal records. Council Member Davis seconded and the motion passed unanimously. (Attachment B)
MOTON TO AWARD A BID FOR TREATED POLES
Council Member Watts made a motion to award a bid to Ace Pole Company in the amount of $5,071.00 for 32 CCA Treated Poles. Council Member Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously. (Attachment C)
Public Works Director Eubanks stated he would like for the Council to table the bid award for the Solids Handling Pump. He is going to send the bid tabulation to Turnipseed Engineers to evaluate and he will bring a recommendation back to the next Council Meeting.
MOTION TO TABLE A BID AWARD FOR A SOLIDS HANDLING PUMP
Council Member Dennis made a motion to table a bid award for a Solids Handling Pump. Council Member Davis seconded and the motion passed unanimously. (Attachment D)
Mayor Andrews noted the City Council froze a Police Officer position last year. As of June 30th, 2017 the overtime paid for the year is over $31,000.00. Mayor Andrews stated this amount is almost enough to hire an officer and he would like Council to consider unfreezing the vacant position. The Council Members briefly discussed the Police Officer position.
MOTION TO UNFREEZE POLICE OFFICER POSITION
Council Member Brown made a motion to unfreeze a Police Officer position. Council Member Dennis seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Police Captain Kelly Collins stated the Police Department will host their 2nd annual Back to School Cookout and Supply Drive on Saturday, July 29th and everyone is invited to attend.
Council Member Davis made a motion to enter into an Executive Session to discuss personnel and legal matters. Council Member Watts seconded and the motion passed unanimously with favorable votes from Council Member Dennis, Council Member Watts, Council Member Brown, and Council Member Davis.
The regular meeting of the Sandersville City Council reconvened at 5:45 p.m.
MOTION TO HIRE FOR POLICE OFFICER, STREET MAINTENACE, WATER, AND ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT POSITIONS
Council Member Dennis made a motion to hire for positions in the Police, Street Maintenance, Water, and Electric Departments pending the passage of pre-employment requirements. Council Member Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
With no further business, Council Member Brown made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Council Member Watts seconded and the meeting was unanimously adjourned.
