Sandersville City Hall

Sandersville City Hall is located at 141 W. Haynes St. The two-story facility, a former bank, was remodeled by the city and opened in 1999. City Hall is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. City Council meets in the council chambers at 134 Malone St.

Services available at City Hall include building permits, business licenses, codes enforcement, economic and community development, inspections, planning services, public information, and public works administration as well as information about and payment of taxes and City water bills. Public parking for City Hall is provided in a parking lot adjacent to the building. Parking spaces for individuals with disabilities are available at the front of City Hall. Handicap access and an elevator are available.

The Sandersville Police Department is located at 130 Malone St. (the former City Hall). The non-emergency phone number for the police department is 478-552-3121. Sandersville Municipal Court is conducted in council chambers at 134 Malone St. The court phone number is 478-552-3121.

The mission of the staff at City Hall is to effectively implement the City Council's policies, priorities and strategic plan; ensure responsible organizational and fiscal management; and promote open and responsive communication with the community. The City Administrator's Office provides oversight, direction and assistance to all departments to ensure the achievement of the Mayor and City Council's goals and objectives, responsible fiscal management, continuous organizational development and process improvement and appropriate organizational response to current events.

The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City and is appointed by the Mayor and Council. Duties include recording and maintaining the Council's official actions in the minutes, coordinating and distributing the agendas, maintaining contracts, ordinances, resolutions and agreements for the City. The City Clerk attests signatures of the Mayor and Council and is the official keeper of the City Seal. The City Clerk oversees the adoptions and publishing of the Code of Ordinances and helps to ensure that all open record requests are in accordance to the Open Records Act.

City Hall also keeps the public informed of activities and services through the city's website and other methods and maintains communication and collaborative efforts with the Chamber of Commerce.

FREE COVID TESTING INFORMATION

Free COVID-19 testing is offered twice weekly in Sandersville -- Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon. For screening for testing through the North Central Health District, you must contact the COVID-19 testing number 844-987-0099 to get a referral for testing.
